INDUSTRIAL NATION

This series was inspired by the Bodies show, an exhibition of 200 dissected human bodies. These mechanical contraptions, remnants of our bygone mechanical age, are in many ways akin to our "body". The machine parts act as the nervous, cardiovascular, circulatory and muscular system for its functionality. Every part has a specified use and the one cannot exist without the other. In passing, they are often viewed as redundant or even an eye-sore, at best, but taking a closer look there is a certain beauty in their craftsmanship and intricate design. These images are not just a metaphorical statement of our body but an allegory to the fragility of time, as many of these industrial embodiments are no longer in use or simply non-operational. What was once thriving and useful equipment is now simply a relic.
